"I've hunted you for all these years. Said cruel things toward you. You had a chance to kill me at the barricade and you didn't. You just let me go free. And even when I accused you back when you were the Mayor....you still accepted me and didn't punish me for my fault." Javert stated, his voice shaking slightly and harsh from yelling earlier.

He was still struggling with the notion that someone like Jean could change. Even if someone like the man of God had helped, it went against everything he knew. People like him didn't change. Nor did someone like himself.

"You were the first person to openly show me kindness when I didn't deserve it. Now you have me doubting the law. The law was the only thing that I believed true and you shattered it. With out the law I am nothing."
