Man, you must be from the past or something. Where I'm from, people have things like credit cards and bank accounts that are tied to their personal information. If that sort of info got in the wrong hands, they could cause a whole lot of trouble for the poor sap who got robbed. Like, I dunno, using their money to buy stuff, changing their passwords and using their accounts for scamming people, maybe even selling this info to some shady company who will just send loads and loads of scam calls to you.

And that's just with people's bank accounts and addresses. If you thought that was bad, imagine what someone could do with more important things like birth certificates and driver's licenses...
