Better dodge or hope someone pushes you out the way!! Look out for slick sidewalks too!

Otherwise, hey have some fun in Hell!! Go to a club, get some drugs, go to a casino, win and get mugged!! Ever have a drink made out of literal MAGMA? Go on, try it!! Slaps hell's cobbled brimstone you can fit so much chaos down here!]

[Heaven-side, the cherubs are ready to welcome you and give you the VIP treatment!! Massages! Manipedis! Lavish outfits and attention! You can raise your hand and just get a fucking cat sat on your lap! Truly, this is bliss!!

Oh, but it's also cozy season in Heaven! So along with the best fits for the chillier weather, There are an assortment of beverages being offered by angels for you to sample (CW Mind Manipulation):

Apple Spiced Latte- Tasty and earthy! But you suddenly feel more subservient.
Cranberry Spiced Latte- A bit tart but it works. This might make you sassier than usual.
Stuffing Spiced Latte- There is no effect. Why would you drink this you monster.

For the TDM you can find small cherub-run kiosks with these drinks on any level you prefer! If that's not your cuppa joe, feel free to explore the beauty of Heaven per usual! The beach! Boardwalk! All the cafes!! Whatever heaven should have, you can likely find it.]

To her those didn't say cuffs. Not jail style cuffs anyway. Those said slavery. Her shoulders went back and her hands rested on her daggers. "Human slavery is against the law where I come from, and if there isn't a law against it here, I am going to go talk to whoever the ****s gets a say in what the laws are and inform them of some hard facts," she said, fury on her face. "But first I want words with whoever the actual ***s did that to you."

Javert shook his head. "You got it wrong. These are shackles we used in prison. I did this to myself. I took the law too faithfully. It's part of my penance."

"..............."

She managed not to swear. It took effort. Effort ruined completely by her expression.

"Someone... arrested you.... for enforcing... the... law....?"

The effort to not swear was monumental.

Javert gave a wary sigh. This was going to be more difficult then he thought it would go. "In the process of trying to do my job, I was overzealous. There were decisions I made that I should have made a better judgement on.

I also learned that people can change, despite what I've learned from my life. Some just need help or a second chance. It took a convict to show me that."

"Well first off, that's why we always have partners. Marcus would rip my throat out if I went in without a partner. And usually my partner is the one to hold me back and ground me." She considered, grinned an almost pained smile. "Well unless my partner is a Barrani, then they just find me quaint and amusing," she said, dryly. She shook her head. At least the Barrani in her life kept insisting that being amusing was a good thing.

"And if people couldn't change, I'd be dead or in a *** of a lot of trouble now. Change is painful and hard sometimes... but it can also bring us to the best life we've ever had. I still don't know why the actual ****s the Hawklord chose to give me a second chance... but I'm grateful he did."

Javert remained quiet after he listened to her explanations. The idea of a partner intrigued him as it wasn't a practice they used at home. They weren't shy of working together in groups when it was required, but for the most each was on their own.

He didn't see eye to eye about people changing. But then she didn't know the life he lived. He didn't know hers. She was also younger and could easily adjust to new ideas and ways.

He looked away not having much to contribute in response. It had done little to quell his own doubt and concerns that plagued him. Perhaps she was doing better then he had. He shook his head.

She scowled when he let a shake of his head be all of his answer. "Not a Tha'alani, can't read your thoughts. If you got something, to say, say it. Can't be any worse than anything I've ever said."

"From what I gather in our conversation you had a more versatile life then I did. Which allows you to see things more open and clearer. I've ever only know the prison and the life it brings. I was born and raised in a prison.

The only way out was to become a prison guard and move up from there. Otherwise it was the streets where I surely would have ended up back in prison later. With no support to help me. Granted I didn't have support as a guard or office either. I had to figure out most on my own because I was different.

Therefore, I've only ever known convicts and those who took advantage with their stories and lies. Often I've seen many faces end up back in prison for the same crimes as before. I've also only known corruption among the police and those in power and refused to follow that."

Javert quietly explained. He wasn't looking for pity or for support, but merely explained why he was so black and white. He sounded very tired as he spoke because he was mentally tired from everything.

She took a deep breath, measuring her response. Sadly for her, as she was often told, even her thoughts were loud. He could read her considerations in her expressions, the way her lips moved soundlessly as she thought.

Finally she spoke, her words measured for once. She wasn't someone usually accused of thinking before she spoke.

"I.. was born in the fiefs," she said slowly. "The fiefs are different than everywhere else. There is no law but the fieflord's and most people never meet the lord of their fief in their lives. I was born in the fief of Nightshade..." her expression was complicated when she said the name, mostly because her thoughts about the Fieflord were complicated. Her hand started to lift towards the mark of nightshade on her cheek, but she fought her hand back down.

After a breath, she continued. "My mother died when I was five. I never knew my father. We... kind of raised ourselves. When someone stronger wanted our room, we left. We knew better than to go outside at night. We begged for money and food. We did worse than beg when people weren't feeling giving." So much bitterness and pain. She shook her head.

"When..." more pain there. So much pain. She sidestepped it. "When I left Nightshade... I wound up somewhere worse. Another fief. A worse one. Not that I thought it was possible back... before." she shook her head again.

"When I left the fiefs... I was sent out to.. to kill someone. It wasn't the first time either..." She shuddered. She wouldn't have said this much to most people. But of everyone, he seemed to be someone who could understand. And maybe who needed to hear it.

This... was also healing? Maybe.

She rubbed her arms. "I don't know why the Hawklord gave me a chance. I still don't know what he saw in me. Killer. Urchin. Fiefling. Thief. I should have been in prison. Or worse. But he saw something in me. ****s if I know what. But he offered me the Hawk... no... a chance to earn the Hawk." She touched the emblem of the Hawk on her tabard. The one picked out in gold thread. Her expression was once again complicated, but this time it was fierce pride and determination. A little confusion. Desperation. She wanted so desperately to be worthy of the Hawk, of that trust.

"I've made the law my life, since then. The Hawks." She took a deep breath. "Not the best way to see anything other than the worst in people. Especially since I wound up mostly working with the Barrani. For the Barrani lying isn't so much an art form as their modus operandi. They use the laws of exemption more than any other race. And they use assassination as a tool for politics. So not exactly the best way to see the best in people. But... yeah. People like you and I... we gotta do better despite all that. And I think we are. I mean... I think I am. I hope I am."
