TL;DR: Nanami Kento is a tight-assed man in a nice suit. He’s also a sorcerer who kills curses with a blunt blade and expert precision. He’s a good enough sorcerer and friend that he ends up taking a very difficult student under his wing at the behest of the world’s strongest sorcerer. The two get pulled into fighting a very strong curse who forces both of them to grow and change to survive.

Personality:
Positive Trait: Caring
For all that Nanami tried to run away from what life had in store for him, he couldn’t escape caring about people and wanting to make things better. His return to sorcery is spurred by destroying a curse causing shoulder pain to a cashier. She’s the first person to thank him for anything in years and it’s enough to get him to take on a job where he feels like he can help people.

It doesn't take long for him to care about Yuji, and he protects his student multiple times from having to do the unpleasant work of killing other humans. When Yuji does eventually have to cross that line, Nanami’s words are what helps him stay grounded.

In the middle of Shibuya he takes the time to help an injured coworker he cares about. And despite the horrifying circumstances before then he only really loses his temper when he finds the man responsible for injuring him.

Negative Trait: Self-destructive
There is so much guilt in Nanami Kento, and he expresses it all in extremely self-destructive ways. His time as a salaryman was exemplified by him working absurdly long hours and sleeping at his desk until his body was giving out. After returning to sorcery he sets much more reasonable work schedule only to become a heavy drinker by the age of 25.

Nanami is absolutely determined to give his life for what he thinks is a good cause. So much so that the first time in canon we see him smile is when he thinks he’s about to die to protect Yuji. Nanami willingly puts himself before others in dangerous situations, volunteering to go into the worst areas during the Shibuya incident to run point. When caught in an enemy domain thereafter he immediately offers himself up to buy enough time for the rest of the people caught to try and escape. His first instinct is always to harm himself with the excuse of doing it for others.

Negative Trait: Repressed
It's not just the pristine suits that make him look perpetually like a narc; everything about Nanami is repressed. He rarely smiles and almost never laughs. There are so many things happening inside him that are never going to see the light of day. The death of his best friend hits him so hard he leaves the profession he’s been training for and even after he returns he won’t talk about it with anyone.

The things he’s pushing down peek out sometimes still, like when his calm shatters at a stupid note from a coworker. And those times he can't keep things repressed they come out twice as intense because they've been held down so long. Like when he beats a man half to death with his bare hands for injuring one of his students.

Negative Trait: Harsh
The very first time we meet Nanami he tells the high school aged protagonist that the world he’s getting into is shit. That all work is shit. It’s not exactly the sort of message one wants to pass on to someone just embarking on the world but there is a truth to it and he’s going to make sure he impresses it on his new student.

Ijichi, one of their support staff, is shown to be terrified of getting yelled at by Nanami on several occasions, having experienced it at least a few times in the past. Just Nanami's name lighting up on his phone is enough to cause Ijichi panic because he doesn't hold back when berating someone.

Powers and Abilities:
As a sorcerer, Nanami is able to see and fight curses with cursed energy. His specific ability is to create a weak point at a spot 7/10ths of the way through a creature or object measured on any end to end line and then to slice through that weak point on even the hardest things. I usually nerf it by saying there’s a very low amount of cursed energy to pull from so he can’t do anything beyond basic, small things with it.
