TDM 004: BACK TO SCHOOL
A: Garden Level - Fall IN!
[The garden is full of fruits and overflowing with milk and honey as usual, truly a paradise. But gasp, what's this? A PALLET CHANGE? Instead of the typical lush green, it's taken on more Autumn colors for AestheticTM. It's still pleasantly warm as usual though, for current denizens and newbies alike, and it's gosh darn nice to hang out in.
But speaking of newbies and passerbys! If you pop in, you'll find yourself landing in a pile of colorful leaves. But these ain't no normal leaves!! Depending on the color, you may experience the following:
Yellow- Get energized nerd!! Despite just dying, you're suddenly filled to the brim with joy, and far more amicable to the first people you see.
Orange- Ever heard of love at first sight?? IT'S HAPPENING NOW. You may become absolutely smitten with the first few folks that help you out of your pile.
Red- Or the complete opposite! You're filled with the POWER OF AGGRO and ready to argue or fight with whoever you see first!
Or maybe you fall in a pile of mixed leaves that give you a combo of effects, or nullify the effect so nothing happens! Up to you. ]
B, Hell Level: Spooky Scary Skeletons
[Down at the HellRaiser hotel, it's already practically halloween 24/7, but now even more so! The standard hellish hotel amenities are available--massages, hot saunas, all the booze and drugs you could ever want, room service, etc!
But the perpetual night life is where it's at. In celebration of the most unholy season of the year (citation needed), the clubs are HOPPING and playing music loud enough it could raise the (un)dead. . .literally! You could be walking on your way back from getting a burger, and skeleton or zombie bursts from the ground! They might attack you or. . .try to get you to dance with them. Weird. Either way, don't linger too long, or they'll try to get you to go back further into the depths with them. . .
Alternatively maybe you're just accosted by some normal party demons/imps and dragged into a club. Have fun!]
C, Heaven Level: The Holy Spirit Halloween
[Heaven-side, the heavenly hotel is its normal, pampering self, complete with every luxurious amenity you could imagine. However, it seems some parts of the hotel are decorated with more. . .demonic accents??
It's not just the hotel either. Outside, spot angels in all sorts of costumes, ranging from black cats to silly godzilla rubber suits. That's right, TIS THE SEASON, and it's the only time angels get to indulge in more silly ~sinful~ desires! Is this cultural appropriation?? Don't worry about it.
As for you, if you're not chillin' at a cat cafe or the gorgeous beach or a coffee shop, you may find a cherub stuffing you into a silly costume. When in Rome!! You may also come across huge golden depots full of costumes, so feel free to shop around! The cherubs within will also see to your every need, as if they're extensions of the hotel as well]

[ A triangle has glitched into existence. A glowing crack runs across his body. Little devil horns top the brim of his hat. His single eye blinks in shock at first...
Shock soon gives way to mad laughter. ]
Heh heh... Ah hah hah... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
[ He rises with the Shepard's tone, holding his hands to the sky as they ignite in blue flames. ] I KNEW THOSE BASTARDS COULDN'T KEEP ME DOWN FOREVER! WEIRDMAGEDDON 2.0, HERE WE CO- Hah?!
[ That's when the flames and horrible noise fizzle out like an unplugged power generator.
Bill attempts to snap his fingers several times, but the only thing he can do is imitate a lighter that's out of fluid. ] Hey, WHAT GIVES?! I have a PHYSICAL FORM! WHY CAN'T I DO ANYTHING?!
[ The tiny sheep fly over to explain that they had to nerf him during his stay. Bill is not amused. ]
Okay, I get it. No fun allowed in the sheep dimension. Great. You mind taking the safety off my powers so I can wormhole my way outta here?
[ They do mind, actually. Wormhole idea too OP and unstable. But they tell him not to worry, they just have to sort out some paperwork and he'll be sent right back to where he was before! ]
. . . No. [ His eye twitches, his body begins to glitch. ] No! F'j klq dlfkd yxzh ql qeboxmv! F'J KLQ DLFKD YXZH QL QEB QEBOXMOFPJ! VLR ZXK'Q JXHB JB!
[ A sheep asks, "I'm sorry, what-" ]
YOU CAN'T KEEP ME HERE! I'M A BEING OF PURE ENERGY AND I CAN ESCAPE THIS PLACE MYSELF! BYE!
[ He zooms upwards in the air as high as he can manage... Which, with the heavy nerfing, is only a couple feet or so. He quickly loses altitude and crashes front first into a pile of orange leaves. Good luck to the poor fool who pulls him out. ]
Hell! (CW: mild body horror)
[ OKAY, so he's stuck here with no powers and no real way out on his own. 'WHAT THE HELL DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS,' he thinks as he fumbles with the key to his hotel room, never once considering he did many things that warrant a nerfed stay in Hell. Given what happened in the garden, he's actively dreading the accommodations...
So opening the door to a familiar-ish room came as a pleasant surprise. ]
Well, well, WELL! What do we have HERE? [ Why, it's his penthouse suite from the ol' Fearamid! Sort of. There may not be a grand piano in here, but the extras more than make up for it. ]
A bed that matches the furniture? Nice touch! [ He can't tell if any of the furniture is actually made from living human flesh, but he doesn't think much of it as his attention is grabbed by the equally creepy kitchen. ] And the BONUS ROOMS? This place is DELUXE!
[ He throws himself onto the lounge chair, pleased to know it at least FEELS like it was made from SOMETHING'S skin. ] Hah hah! Ya know what? Maybe this isn't such a bad place after all!
[ ... But then he notices something off with the fireplace. There should be a giant portrait of himself as king of everything hanging majestically above the mantle.
That portrait is not above the mantle. Instead, there's a framed motivational poster that reads "Be a TRY-angle! :)" in bold pastel colors that clash with everything else in the room.
That poster is chucked out the door five minutes later. A slightly miffed Bill emerges a second after to confront the poor bellhop who nearly got hit by the offending decoration. ] YOUR POSTERS SUCK! YOU NEED BETTER PICTURES FOR THE WALLS! But otherwise, nice room. Four screaming heads out of five!
Hell Party! (CW: Drunk triangle, body horror-ish eye trauma...? )
[ Hell may follow those pesky laws of physics, but otherwise these guys know how to party!
Bill does not need to be dragged to the club, for he is already zooming in to party! He flies over to the bar, grabs two shots that have been left out on the bar, and proceeds to dump the contents into his eye. Which doesn't seem to hurt him. Is his eye also his mouth? Don't think about it. ]
Ah! Man, you have NO IDEA how much I needed this! HEY! BARKEEP! YA GOT MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM?
[ The disgruntled bartender rolls their eyes and goes to find something for the annoying triangle to drink. In the meantime, Bill looks over at the crazy devils raving on the dance floor with glee. ] Oh ho! If THIS is how you losers like to party, then I'm REALLY gonna ENJOY MY STAY!

[Just about the worst man has flickered into existence in the midst of the garden. "Flickered" being the key here, since... that's not stopping. He slowly takes on a more energized, angelic physical form, but there's always a slight shimmer to it. Also he's blue. Which would be hilarious, we're he not absolute fucking furious.]
--No! No! You are not killing the hero, y- you. What.
[Breathlessly, he whips around, facing the autumn surroundings, the spread the sheep put out, the other denizens and their celestial attributes.]
What. [Despite himself, Jack almost laughs.] You- The Hell? Wha- I-I'm just in a holiday card now? ...Swarming with furries? Is this what death is, cuuuuz that's just a load of bs.
[B: Hell]
[A skeleton pops out of the dirt, slowly crawling its way out... until Jack's boot heel comes down on its head.]
Nope. No. Nuh-uh.
[Just. Gonna stomp that skeleton back into the hole it crawled from. And kick some of the dirt back over it. He claps imaginary dust off his hands.]
God, this place is a mess - Someone's got to really do something about all... this.

[Bad news, the cherubs got ahold of Jack and whisked him away for his costume fitting.
The end result.... looks nowhere near as cool as this though. In reality, it's more like a waddling kaiju suit situation over here. There simply isn't enough mobility in this thing for Jack to chase after the cherubs, let alone strangle them.

[ Well, it makes sense the afterlife would be about the same as the above: trapped in a hellscape that mirrored the music business. People on substances and bizarre costumes all around. Where else would he end up at the end of it all?
Which means he might as well indulge. It doesn't matter anymore. His larynx was completely fried before - smoking again won't destroy his singing voice. He rolls down the high neck of his leather costume, pulling the cord from his voice box out of the hole there. Don't want to damage that... gift. He gestures for a lighter to one of the skeletons, feeling foolish he didn't ask before taking out his ability to talk, but the undead gets it anyway.
The smoke curls out from his neck, and he almost purrs in contentment - which sounds like a wheezy growl from him.
In which the skeleton immediately grabs it from him, shaking its head with great disappointment. Winslow's one eye goes huge in confusion, like a great startled owl, as the skeleton points to the "no smoking" sign. He has to put his voicebox cord back in, because he's so bewildered by what he'd done wrong. ]
What? You can't do that in Hell? No wonder it's called Hell.
C: Blessed be The Holy Spirit Halloween
[ Huh. It had been December when everything had happened. How long had he been trapped... wherever this is? Some kind of limbo, surely. He'd expected a bit more Bibilical environment. Less scantily clad demons and skeletons, more fire and brimstone, maybe? Whatever, it looked like Halloween, and that's fine with him. He'll blend right in, masked and caped and clad in a leather costume.
He even politely stops to let some of the small impish staff approach, tying even more belts and straps around his already BDSM-like outfit. It doesn't hurt, and at this point, why not? As long as he can read, write and play music, they can decorate him for the season. ]
Here?
[ He talks, but the box around his neck lights up, and it sounds flat. Synthetic. He crouches down for the imp to put a spiked collar around his neck; it's tacky and plastic to the touch. He even smiles a little at the sheer absurdity of it all. ]
I'm not enough as it is, huh?
[ Apparently not, as they place a pair of devil horns neatly over his silver mask. The laugh he makes crackles from his voicebox's speaker. ]

[ The shrill voice piping in from behind belongs to what looks like a cracked Illuminati eye with limbs and fancy accessories. He floats into view, tears the "No Smoking" sign off the wall, and uses it to give the skeleton a strong WHACK on the skull. Should be enough to crack it, at least. ]

Stolas | Helluva Boss | Hellbound
[Landing in a pile of leaves and then having things explained to him by two flying sheep isn't exactly how Stolas thought his day was going to go. Furthermore, he's just...confused? How did he die???? This better be a clerical error of some kind and when he mentioned wanting to SEE the paperwork, the sheep flew off and left him sitting there.
The very confused Owl Prince sits there and just tries to wrap his head around what.just. happened.
Because he's so distracted, he doesn't notice when someone approaches to try and help him up.]

[After checking into the hotel and finding his room, Stolas takes a few moments to get his bearings. Honestly? He needs a drink. But, first, he needs to get a feeling for where he is.
He takes his time exploring the opulent suite he was assigned, making sure to thoroughly check out the bathroom and to make sure everything is up to his standards. Once he's satisfied, Stolas decides that it might be time to venture out of his room and into the hotel proper to see who else might have ended up here.
He can be found with a drink in hand, exploring the halls and whatever amenities he can find to satisfy his curiosity. There might even be a glimpse of him attempting to open a portal here and there with very limited success. ]

[When Rarity walked through that portal, this was most certainly NOT where she thought she would end up. She had been aiming to go back to her Equestria. Instead she finds herself in a pile.. of leaves.

She huffs as she stands up to shake out her mane and tail only to realize two very important things. There are flying..creatures talking to her that she doesn't know quite what to make of and what they are saying most certainly does NOT bode well. While yes, she has 'died' before, THIS isn't how things are done! She huffs as they hand her the items she needs and then jet off the moment she mentions wanting to talk to someone in charge. ]
Well then. That was rather rude of them. They didn't even offer to assist a Lady in distress.

[After checking into the hotel and promising herself a spa day soon after the insanity she's had to deal with, she ventures out to explore and immediately has a cherub squealing about a pretty pony and trying to shove her in the tackiest costume she's ever seen!
Rarity protests immediately and when the cherub doesn't get the hint, a few oddly shaped diamonds float out of her hair where they were hidden and immediately shred the offending costume to shreds before getting tucked back into her hair.]
When a Lady says no, it mean no. Besides, I wouldn't get caught dead in something so cheap and tacky. A Lady such as myself has standards.

She alternates between manning the music, and flittering from one partygoer to the next, literally buzzing with her busywork. Hands a blur, forming intricate symbols one moment and more intricate confections the next.]

[You're getting a massive treat shoved into your hands. It's positively mouthwatering. And probably highly fattening.]

[A sin loitering among the holy? Enjoying all the pleasures the Place Upstairs can offer her? Just what is this world coming to? --Which is about what Bee was thinking once angels started complimenting her "costume". Calling it "pretty accurate" and whatnot.
That just makes the costumes she's seen that much worse!]

[The compliments have slowed, and there's plenty of odd looks going her way. All she does is sip her heavenly latte.]

Lute | Hazbin Hotel | Heaven | OTA
[Yellow leaves. Lute is certain these weren't here the last time she ventured down to the garden. Falling into a giant pile of leaves is possibly the most undignified thing she's done since she arrived here, but she manages to pick herself up quickly, brushing down her clothes. She isn't wearing her mask; it gets left up in her room half the time now. There are times to hide her face, and times it doesn't matter. The weight of her losses is still heavy on her, but Lute's getting better at concealing it all. Michael insisted she have all her injuries properly treated, and that helped. There's still nothing to be done about that empty left sleeve. Her arm is gone.
It'll grow back, she tells herself, even if she can't know if that's true here. Then sometimes she thinks she deserves all this. Dwells on her failures. The futility of that is very evident to her, but grief sometimes defies good sense.
Stepping out from the leaf pile, Lute should feel annoyed. She doesn't. She feels lighter. The effect on her is mild; she's not going to be effusively joyful or love her enemies, but it's as if a dark cloud has lifted and she can see a brighter future. She'll be nicer. Mostly.
She waves at the person nearest to her, and smiles.]

[Going to Hell is a bad idea. Even if it isn't the Hell she knows, even if the demons aren't all real. Lute knows it's a bad idea, but she's in an impulsive and reckless mood. Frustrated. Angry at Hell. Angry at herself. (She has good days and bad days, that's how it goes now.)
She'll try to enlist the help of a fellow angel, someone to venture down with her, but if that fails, she's going alone. Full Exorcist gear, carrying a sword. This is also probably a bad idea, but it's the only security she has, and she just needs to get to the bottom of that elevator and see for herself that it isn't the Hell she's familiar with.
It feels like the longest descent ever. Finally the doors open. She looks out.]
It's true. Brand new Hell.
[To match the new Heaven. She'd had to see for herself. It's still close enough to bring the unpleasant memories to the forefront of her mind, and she decides there's no point in staying.
At that very moment, several skeletons burst from the ground. Does this tear up the floor? Yes. Do the skeletons care? No. Serves you right for building on their burial ground, Hell. The imps will have to fix it later. These skeletons seem indiscriminately angry, and they're armed. One of them is now in the elevator. Lute leaps into action, slicing at it with her sword. Her skills are beyond question, honed over countless years - but she's still weakened, and fighting with one arm alters her balance in ways she hasn't learned to compensate for.
This is skeleton chaos. If you're her ally in the elevator, you're probably getting attacked. If you're passing by, the skeletons will attack you too. You'd never choose to team up with a scary-looking masked angel? Too bad, looks like it's happening if you both want to get out unscathed.]

[Meet her in Heaven, text her, plot something totally different with me.]
[OOC: Lute again! She was on the last TDM so I'm playing that she's been around for a short time already and the threads there are canon for her. If these prompts don't grab you, the others are still open. Canon point is end of season 1 and I have relevant headcanons in her journal if you're interested. Please check her permissions before you dive in with negative CR (yes, she deserves it, I'm up for it if wanted, but I've got a couple of caveats to make sure it's fun for me too). Positive crosscanon interactions also dearly loved.]

Inspector Javert | Les Miserables Movie
[Inspector Javert was extremely confused. The last thing he remembered was his death and now he was standing in some kind of garden. Judging by it's changing colors it was fall. It was winter time where he was from. He didn't like this one bit.
Was this some kind of challenge he had to face before he was allowed to rest? Or was it because of his choice he was sent here? He looked at the shackles around his wrists and wondered what this all meant.
He was never a people person. And it was hard for him to actually ask for help. He usually figured out everything on his own. That's how it always had been. Everything had to be. He could never trust anyone enough. He at least had his police uniform and that offered some sort of comfort. Not that he understood what it meant for here.
Warily he decided to explore the garden and study the different leaves. He picked up the different color leaves but felt drawn toward the yellow leaves. Soon enough he had a handful of them. He felt a sense of peace after a while and found himself enjoying the atmosphere of the garden. It also gave him enough drive to want to approach strangers, he normally would have ignored. It felt strange.]
Can someone tell me what the purpose of this garden is and why we were forced here?
[Hell]
[He found the hotel easily enough, but wasn't fond of what he saw with in it. It caused his mood to return to it's regular dismal view. It reminded him of the hell whole he crawled out from as a kid. Mentally this was doing a number on his already shaken state of mind. He ran a hand through his hair as he tried to calm his nerves.
He was tempted to order some wine as a way to calm his nerves, but he understood that this hotel seemed to prey on such vices and Javert wasn't going to give into that.
He kicked at a skeleton that tried to grab his legs. It quickly pulled away and looked for an easier target. He didn't even question the skeleton. He just wanted to hide away and collect his thoughts. The loud music was too much for him. He clinched his fists.]
This is ridiculous.
[He said to no one in particular as he stormed away from the hotel for the time being.]

[There's the sound of a scream and then a WHOMP! as someone new falls into a huge pile of yellow leaves. It's kind of hard to tell who just landed, as the leaves have buried the person so well. Eventually, the person bursts out of the leaves. And they are tiny. Not even 5 feet tall. It's also kind of hard to tell their gender with their short hair and baggy clothes. A small pair of curled horns peer out of their hair and a spaded tail sways behind them, unnoticed.
But they seem to really be enjoying themselves. They're laughing as they dive back into the leaves in search of something. When they appear again, they have a large set of round glasses in hand. Something that had fallen off when they landed. For now, they're just going to flop into the leaves again and hide, ready to pop out when someone else comes along. It's not really like them, but they want to have some fun.]

Klaus' discomfort level is at an all time high. So they decided to take themself out of the equation and find their way to somewhere with food rather than the drugs and alcohol.
After getting as much meat as they can get on a burger, they start to walk back to the elevator. They're planning to eat first and then go back to Heaven, but there's a weird, dancing zombie.
"Listen, buddy. I'm sure you're like...super hungry, but I don't have anything to give you and I want to eat my food. Do you want half a burger?"
Apparently not. So now Klaus is running as the zombie equivalent of a 'distract and attack' sort of Velociraptor attack starts. He is still trying to eat his burger as he runs, which is chaotic at worst and entertaining to watch at best.

Somehow Heaven is safer than Hell. No, that's pretty normal when it comes to Klaus, actually. They have thankfully finished their drink before they're attacked by cherubs and shoved into a Jane Jetson costume.

[Nanao's already eighteen and would have graduated from high school if he had lived. In most parts of the world, he would be considered an adult. The first few hours of the rave was fine but now what the imps are doing is almost boring.

If you're unlucky enough to be stuck in it, maybe he'll cut you free, or maybe he won't. After taking a swipe at it, he finds the strands are actually quite strong. And sticky. Gross.]

Paris had it's garden's true, but they were nothing like this. The burst of colors assaulted the eyes and the scents of each assaulted the nose. He wandered the rows and rows of blooms finding his eyes drawn again and again to the red flowers. Their brightness reminded him of spilled blood and that reminded him of his own death and those of his revolutionary friends.
He reaches out and plucks one of them taking a deep smell of the scent. Something feels pulled taunt inside of him all the sudden and he feels the urge to lash out as he struggles to contain feelings he's been suppressing.

That wasn't all that was different; his face had now taken on a half-and-half appearance, with his former mask now constituting half of it like some sort of hellborn joke, existing alongside a pair of wings, a single goat-like horn, and a tail that ended in what appeared to be a point like the head of a guitar. Adam clearly was not cognizant of his changes, or where he even was, so driven was he by the aggressive boost of the red leaves that he summoned what appeared to an infernal axe in his hands and swung it, sending out a wave of fire. ]

[Mefilas is dressed as one of her fellow Seijin, Alien Baltan, and resembles her normal self equipped with a pair of large lobster claws, and what is best described as Elf Boots. The Garish outfit is topped by a particularly haunting laugh she utters over and over.
A kaiju in a rubber kaiju costume was quite the sight, bringing the would-be conquerer of the Earth quite a bit of attention, which she is doing her best to ignore while taking in some food at a local cafe.
